The Dushi Xincheng Primary School of Shijiazhuang, Hebei province organized an activity to visit the ancient Fenglong Academy on April 11 to promote traditional Chinese culture among students.
A total of 246 students took part in activities centered on Chinese language, literature, culture and history. They also practiced ancient liuyi (meaning six skills of ancient China, including dancing, archery, calligraphy and counting) at Fenglong Academy.
Fenglong Academy, with a history dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), is the earliest academy in Hebei province. It used to be the teaching site of Li Gong, a famous education scholar of the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220). Currently, repair work on the damaged ancient academy is underway.
The activity was organized to cultivate an interest in learning traditional Chinese culture and promoting traditional Chinese culture to future generations, said the activity sponsor.
